People in their early adolescence develop a hive-mind--an unconscious group-think process--that renders them completely unable to think independently. They become linked by an invisible communications network that only works when the entire network is activated.
The logical consequences of thinking pattern are: hours-long phone conversations that follow hours-long visits, a complete inability to be alone, instant knowledge of whether something is cool or not--even before it's been experienced, Hannah Montana and the entire Disney Channel.
Why do they not hand out tranquilizers upon the maturation of one's daughter. Why?

hormones are amazing things aren't they? They cause personality changes in whomever experiences them for the first time. At once fascinating and terrifying.
